Lee and Jacky weren’t originally going to have a photographer. A very small group of friends and family, getting married at the Sydney Wedding Registry, and a very low-key reception. Not a lot of room for a photographer…but I know they are glad they did and I’m really happy they chose me, because some of these photos below are simply beautiful!
And I love capturing beautiful images!
On a very cold and wet Sydney winter’s day, I met Lee and Jacky at the Births, Deaths & Marriages Office in Sydney. We got out of the rain, went inside and it was only a few minutes till I saw these two interact with each other – they are just so natural together!
After we walked upstairs and into the Ceremony Room, the actual ceremony was done in around 15 minutes. Simple, but also great to have their best friends and family so close on such a special day.
After a few photos inside the wedding registry office, we had arranged a ride to take us all to Sydney University for some formal photos. With the rain still streaming down from above, we had to make a few quick dash’s for cover! But we got there in the end.
And what an amazing venue!! Solid sandstone walls all round, with some stunning internal staircases and foyers. With Jacky’s dress flowing down the staircases and against the sandstone – I couldn’t have asked for a better venue to photograph such a wonderful couple.
And to be honest, I actually think the rain suited the area a little better! The entire building is very moody and old-world, and I think the grey clouds suited rather well :)
After a little run-in with the local security guard (I’ll leave that for another post…) we shot some photos then went to get into our ride back to the reception venue. Little did we know that our ride was actually a taxi-van with 2 lasers and a thumbing sound system inside!!
Pumping out 80’s music with 2 lasers inside a van with a bride & groom – not something I had expected on my quiet raining wedding shoot!
After all this, it really was a great day for everyone. The weather couldn’t stop Lee & Jacky sharing a special day. When you see a couple interact and laugh with each other as much as I did for a few short hours, you know they are both meant to be together!
It was a pleasure to spend your wedding day with you both Lee and Jacky, thank you!
